Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

VIKASTRO ("we", "us") is a web application for Vedic and KP astrology chart analysis. You can contact us at sanatanrahi@gmail.com or on WhatsApp at +91 63977 13862.

2. Information we collect

• Birth details you enter (name, gender, date, time and place of birth, coordinates, timezone). These are needed to calculate a chart.
• Registration details you send us on WhatsApp or email (name, mobile number, optional email and preferred username), used only to create your account and contact you about it.
• Account information for signed-in users: login id and a hashed password (we never store passwords from the accounts system in readable form).
• Saved profiles and notes that signed-in users choose to save.
• Feedback that signed-in users send from inside the app: the message, plus a name and an email or phone number only if you choose to provide them.
• Device storage (browser local storage): your login token, theme, ayanamsa and layout preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.
• Usage statistics: to understand how the site is used, we record anonymous visit data: the pages viewed, time spent, device and browser type, the website you came from, and a random visitor id kept in your browser storage. We do not store your IP address, name or birth details in these statistics. We may also use Google Analytics 4, which collects similar usage data under Google's own policy. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, we do not record usage data for you. You can also clear the visitor id by clearing your browser data.

3. Guest mode

In Guest mode, birth details are sent to our server only to calculate the chart and are not saved to a profile. Guests cannot save profiles or notes.

4. How we use information

• To calculate and display charts, dashas and horary results.
• To keep signed-in users' saved profiles and notes available to them.
• To respond to feedback and support requests.
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

5. Third-party services

• Analytics: usage statistics are stored in our own database and, if enabled, sent to Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC).
• Hosting and database: the app runs on Render, and saved data may be stored in MongoDB Atlas.
• City search: the place name you type is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service to find coordinates and timezone.
• Fonts: Google Fonts may be loaded, which means your IP address is received by Google when the page loads.

These providers have their own privacy policies.

6. Sharing

We share information only with the service providers above as needed to run the app, or if the law requires it. Saved profiles of one account are never shown to another account. The site administrator can access stored profiles, notes and feedback only to run, support and secure the service.

7. Retention and deletion

Saved profiles, notes and feedback are kept until you ask us to delete them or the account is removed. To request deletion or a copy of your data, email sanatanrahi@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed with PBKDF2-SHA256 and traffic is served over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, erase or withdraw consent for your personal data. Contact us to exercise them.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
